Focchi S.p.A. is now a leading company in the curtain walling sector. We are engaged in the full cladding process from design, manufacture, delivery and site installation. These are the key points of Focchi's success: Technical Knowledge 30 years of experience in the technical design of building envelopes. Overall management of the Façade Package. The profiles used for the construction of the curtain walling system are developed by our Research and Development Dept., which dedicates particular attention to develop the design and to produce the prototype for testing, thus always achieving consistently high Quality of both performance and product innovation. The Technical Dept. relies on a large team of experienced project managers, project design managers, site managers, engineers and surveyors dedicated to each project. The most important achievements of Focchi are: The construction of the first building in Italy with structural silicone technology, IRCAER in Bologna, which has been followed by LINGOTTO in Turin and then in Europe with the project HAAS HAUS in Vienna and in the UK with Quay West, Manchester. Focchi was the first company to adopt the construction glazing technology in the marine sector with the glazing contracts for 23 transatlantic and cruise line ships. The design and construction of innovative "bomb blast resistant" façades for the Marks & Spencer project in Manchester and the London Stock Exchange in Paternoster Square - London. The design and construction of the largest suspended bolted façade in Italy for the Pirelli Headquarters project in Milan.

History

1914

Focchi is established in Rimini and operates in the metalworking sector until the 1950s. Its name reflects the ownership of the family Focchi, which remains the same until nowadays.

1955

Focchi begins the production of aluminium windows and doors.

1975

The company starts the manufacture of curtain walling, which becomes the firm core business since then.

1983

Opening towards foreign market: in particular Saudi Arabia, then followed by the Principality of Monaco.

1985

Focchi introduces structural silicone technology (in Italy first then in Europe) on an industrial level: Its first project has been the “Istituto di Credito Agrario” Bank in Bologna, then followed by the “Lingotto” Exhibition Centre in Turin (a project by arch. Renzo Piano).

1988

The first project with curved structural silicone façades in Vienna: Haas Haus by arch. Hans Hollein, opens the Austrian market.

1992

Design Net World is set up to promote international workshops on architecture and design.

1994

The Prontinfisso Division is set up for the design, production and marketing for the residential market of windows and doors: 90% to tradesmen and wholesale distributors and 10% to building companies.

1995

Focchi Ltd is establish in London to operate in the British market and starts its activity with the project o the American Air Museum in Duxford, co-operating with Foster & Partners arch. One of the world’s leading representative of contemporary architecture.

Focchi acquires Sicof, a company with specific know-how in anchoring systems for ceramics and stone cladding.

1999

Focchi Singapore Pte. Ltd. is established to operate in the Far East market. The Group also starts a joint venture with CFF Srl, a company operating in the field of stone quarrying, to establish the Focchi Stone Ltd.

2004

Inauguration of the new production factory which allows the manufacture of “unitised” façades and each other type of light pre-fabricated cladding.

2005

The construction of the new premises (project by arch. Mario Cucinella) The office building is designed with a fully glazed system which provides the best performances for what concerns comfort and energy saving.

2006

Consolidation of Focchi Ltd for the development and the design of contemporaneous woks of big dimensions as:

“Baker Street” Development: the refurbishment of the ex Marks & Spencer headquarters, which becomes an offices and retail centre in the heart of London; a project which involves a whole block with 25.000 square metres of glazed façades.

Snow Hill Development: it represents the new frontier of urban re-qualification. The area of the Old Snow Hill Rail Station in Birmingham is transformed into futuristic scenery with offices and residential buildings.

2008

A further improvement of the engineering dept. for what concerns the design of complex technology for construction, such as: Regent’s Place and Park House in England; Sky Network, Edison and Gucci in Italy.

2010

Focchi Group continues its research and innovation activity in the sector of the “Green Building”, with the aim of designing sustainable buildings from an energy use point of view. Examples of this work is the study and construction of two Energy Class A buildings, with fully glazed façades, among the first in Italy: RCS Mediagroup Development in Milan2013 Buildings A2 and B5. Focchi Ltd has also worked with Main Contractors on a number of recent Buildings to achieve BREEAM rating “Good” & “Excellent”.

2011

The R&D Department of the group is more and more involved in the research activity of energy optimization: development of energy production with the use of photovoltaics and building costs and energy consumption analyses, thus offering the possibility of energy saving through innovative ideas. We conceive solutions that allow systems to integrate renewable energy production inside the envelope, with the aim of making it self-sustaining and creating full architectural integration.

2014

Focchi celebrates its centenary, confirming itself as one of the most experienced companies in this sector….. A real great goal in such a selective market.
